Foam sclerotherapy is a new technique that employs the same chemical used to shut down spider veins in the treatment of varicose veins.

There are certain circumstances where the vein to be shut down is not a candidate for thermal ablation (RFA or EVLT). This is particularly true in people who have had a stripping procedure before. Patients such as this may be a candidate for foam sclerotherapy.

Dr. Weiswasser and the AVA are proud to have been the first to use Varithena, the newly FDA approved foam sclerosant, in the tri-state area.
